Starting last Thursday, user experience professionals of all types flooded KW to partake in a variety of design related events. These 5 straight days of UX wrapped up today in style at D2L with a fantastic lunch session given by Indi Young.

Today's session focused on Mental Models, which Indi quite literally, wrote the book on. She talked about how research can be of two types: you can focus on the users interacting with your product, or you can just focus on the user. By doing so, you will develop an empathy for that user, a better understanding of them and then you can apply this empathy to your work.

A mental model is a representation of the user in terms of beliefs, motivations and emotions. Once that's completed, you can layer information on below about how your product (and even your competitors!) support these beliefs so as to better identify gaps. A big thank you to Indi for spending the time with us!

And there you have it folks — the veritable UX festival has come to a close. Thank you to everyone who participated in the event series! It was a great indication of just how ready KW is for more events like this.

We look forward to see you all again, very soon.
