The weekend of September 13 & 14 is obviously one that we’re excited about, as it’s when Fluxible is happening. But in addition to our beloved conference, there are five related UX events happening immediately before and after Fluxible that you should also check out. It's a veritable festival of UX!

Thursday September 11

It’s now officially a tradition: each year we do a Fluxible preview event as the September session for uxWaterloo (the local chapter of the IxDA, and which Bob and I also organize). This year is special, as we have Fluxible speaker Giles Colborne joining us for an edition of UX Book Club that will be devoted to his book Simple and Usable Web, Mobile, and Interaction Design.

Register soon, though, as there are only 20 spots available for this free event.

In another lovely tradition, we support Girl Geek Dinners Waterloo Region by working with our speakers to coordinate their travel to facilitate speaking at a GGD event. (Whitney Quesenbery and Michal Levin spoke in 2012, and Kate Wilhelm spoke in 2013.) This year is no exception, and another fine Fluxible speaker will be speaking at a dinner organized by this great organization. We don’t want to spoil the surprise, other than to say it will be happening on this day. More news to come! Update: Danielle Malik will be speaking  at GGD! Go register now!

Friday September 12

Fluxible sponsors Boltmade and Heist have teamed up for an event series called Method Jam. Their first event was held in Toronto at Heist headquarters and was a big success. Their second event, called Design Is A Tool, is happening at Boltmade’s Waterloo office. They're even running a bus service from Toronto to make it super easy to attend.

Again, register soon for this free event!

Saturday & Sunday September 13–14

Get ready for the main event! It’s year three of the the UX party disguised as a conference.

You already know about the great lineup of talks and workshops, right?

And you’ve already heard about how much people enjoyed the first two editions, right?

And you already know how to get here and where to stay, right?

And you’ve already registered, right?

Monday September 15

Indi Young

Next, here’s a brand new event to attend. Fluxible speaker Indi Young was interested in doing more during her visit to Waterloo for the conference. And we thought that sounded like a great opportunity!

As a result, we’ve partnered up with Fluxible sponsor D2L to present a fantastic brown bag lunch session featuring Indi talking about mental models. Whether or not you're attending Fluxible, here's a great chance to learn about a crucial UX tool from Indi in a relaxed and informative session.

Register soon for this great lunchtime event, as spaces are limited.
