Rich BurrowsWhen Bob and I started Fluxible, we had some explicit goals in mind, one of which was to showcase Waterloo Region to the rest of the world, drawing attention to the exciting things going on here from a design and UX perspective. Of course there’s more to Fluxible than exceptional talks and workshops, and there's more to our region as well. From the start, music and art have been a part of Fluxible, and we’re delighted to have featured local musicians and artists on every program.

Open EarsThis year, we’re taking it a little further and supporting Open Ears. Open Ears is a festival of music and sound that was first held in 1998, and which has been presenting a fantastic program of musical explorations on a biannual basis ever since. This year, it takes place in downtown Kitchener and across Waterloo Region from June 5 to June 15.

Fluxible is sponsoring Radio Wonderland + Weird Canada — an event with some uniquely interesting stuff going on from a UX perspective in terms of device inputs. We think the whole festival demands a look and listen, though, so if you’re in the area do try to make it out to at least one of its events.

As a board member of Open Ears, I’m happy to have helped bring attention to this vibrant festival through Fluxible, as the two events share much in common spiritually if not in form. And it's been our pleasure to draw upon Open Ears extended family members like Kathryn Ladano and Rich Burrows (pictured above), who've enriched the Fluxible experience with their memorable musical performances.
