It's no secret to members of the UX community that user testing an application or website early on ultimately saves time and money. Who wants to find out after spending resources on development, that the design is not intuitive to users? It's ironic then, that it's often the last thing to be considered and the first thing to be dropped when time or money are tight. Seeing a huge opportunity, UserTesting.com was founded — a means of bridging the gap between no user testing and expensive user testing.

"You can get feedback almost instantly, and combined with the recording of the user's voice, the feedback we can bring is invaluable," says Marketing Associate, Alex Kim. With turnaround times like that, it's no wonder UX teams have added usertesting.com to their arsenal. And here's the best part - we are giving away free UserTesting.com test packages to all of our attendees!

We caught up with Alex this week. Here's a bit of our conversation:

Q: Finding users can sometimes be tough. How do you recruit users?
A: We've grown our panel organically over the years through word of mouth. We have over 1000 applicants a week apply to be testers with little to no advertising. We do post on websites so we can grow our panel even faster and expand our demographic reach.

Q: The world is moving to mobile. How has that changed usertesting.com's approach (e.g.testing methods)?
A: We started with just screen capture, but quickly realized that mobile is the next big thing, and it's growing faster than our regular website tests. We sent out thousands of webcams to users in the US, UK, and Canada and continue to grow our mobile panel as well as mobile customers. Instead of capturing the screen, we capture the phone or tablet, showing hand gestures while still recording their voice.

Q: Why made you want to support Fluxible?
A: We would support all UX events and conferences if we could, because we offer another unique tool that every UX designer should have in their toolbelt. Also, many people in Canada may not have heard of us.

Q: Any parting thoughts to our attendees?
A: We hope you have a great conference, and we would definitely like to attend in the future!

We at Fluxible are already looking forward to having usertesting.com join us next year! Thanks for your support.
