nFormAs Bob and I have said a few times in relation to Fluxible, it takes a village to raise a conference. There are volunteers, speakers, musicians, and a host of others who are collectively bringing Fluxible to life. We’re especially gratified with the support that we have from our sponsors.

We brought Gene Smith on board early on to deliver a workshop on User Research Hacks. We were delighted when he wanted to go further and have his company nForm become a Platinum Sponsor of Fluxible!  (By the way, say hi to them on Twitter!) We talked a little with Gene about nForm and Fluxible, and here’s what he had to say.

Tell us a little about nForm

We're a dedicated user experience professional services company, so everything we do (research, strategy, design, evaluation, etc.) is focused on creating great user experiences for our clients.

Why did you decide to sponsor Fluxible?

We chose Fluxible because we wanted to support a home-grown user experience event that focused on the Canadian UX community. There are lots of travelling road shows that bring in American or international speakers, and those are great. But it's also important to nurture our own community, practitioners, and companies through our own events (like Fluxible). We also know from experience that it's exceedingly hard to start a new event, and run it well. There's a lot of risk, hard work, and sleepless nights. The support of sponsors can make or break a new event, so it seemed like a good way for us help make Fluxible a success.

What talks or workshops are you looking forward to?

You mean aside from my workshop, User Research Hacks, Sunday at 9 a.m.? I'm looking forward to the sessions by Karl Fast, Matthew Milan, Michal Levin and James Wu. The rest of the program looks great too.

Anything else you want to tell us?

I’ve never been to Waterloo but I'm excited about my first visit. We just renovated and moved into a new studio in Edmonton and we have several pictures of the process up on Flickr. Have a look!
