Kasia is a fifth year student at Laurier University finishing up her composition/improvisation degree. She began what has now been 11 years of flute playing with the Suzuki School of Music in her home town, Ottawa. Upon moving to Waterloo, Kasia has taken to performing with various bands and trying new things like UW’s Gamelan ensemble. At Laurier she studied privately with composers/improvisors Linda C. Smith, Glenn Buhr, Kathryn Ladano, and attended seminars led by Peter Hatch. She studied flute with Amy Hamilton and Kevin O’Donnell. Recently, Kasia won the NUMUS student improvisation competition and had the opportunity to perform with Adam Tindale and Colin Labadie. She also recently played a gig at the Inter Arts Matrix. She hopes to compose more and keep gaining ideas and experiencing new things!
