Fluxible 2012 Venues

Our conference venues are located in downtown Kitchener, just a 10-minute walk from each other. Nearby you’ll find a wide selection of restaurants and shops, plus several hotels if you’re coming from out of town. Stay tuned for more details on accommodation.

Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts

36 King St W, Kitchener, ON N2G 1A3, Canada (map)

Parking: King Street offers limited 2-hour curbside parking. For full-day options, there are nearby parking lots.

Our base on Saturday the 22nd is the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts, home of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony. It’s a terrific space for our series of 45-minute presentations by UX and design leaders. Talks will take place in the main Warnock MacMillan Theatre on the ground floor, with wraparound theatre seating so you’ll have a great view from everywhere. The theatre holds 300 people, but we’re planning to cap Fluxible at 200. In addition to the main theatre, we’ll have access to the Blair Rehearsal Hall and a sunny outdoor patio on the second floor. So there’ll be plenty of room to spread out and get comfortable.

The Tannery and Communitech Hub

The Tannery, 151 Charles St W #100, Kitchener, ON N2G 1H6, Canada (map)

Parking: Full-day parking is available in the lot directly outside The Hub

On Sunday the 23rd we relocate to the Communitech Hub in Kitchener’s warehouse district, just a 10-minute walk from the Conrad Centre. This space in the newly-renovated Lang Tannery is perfect for our day’s events of hands-on workshops, lunchtime fun, tours of local companies, and closing keynote. Keep your eyes peeled for The Hub’s dozens of tenant companies and startups — including Google, Desire2Learn, and VeloCity. Integrated into the site of the Lang Tannery in downtown Kitchener, The Hub borrows from the building’s historical importance (it was once the largest tannery in the British Empire) as it leads Canada into a new, digital future.
