They say it takes a village to raise a child, and putting on a conference isn't far off. It takes a ton of behind-the-scenes work to pull off an incredible weekend of UX delight, and we definitely couldn't do it alone. This post tips our hat to and shines a spotlight on the incredible Fluxible volunteers.

Core Team

This group turned 365 days of thinking and planning into 2 days of UX fun. They were responsible for speaker concierge duties, venue arranging, party planning, menu preparation, registration organization, social media publishing, and much more. It's not everyday that you get lucky enough to land a group of talented and super fun individuals as your core go-to people. A big shout-out to Lisa Barlow-Busch, James Bousquet, Katie Cerar, Sandra Loop, Davis Neable, and Jayne Thompson. Thanks also to Amrita Chandra and Elena Yunusov for help with marketing Fluxible to our friends in Toronto.

Weekend Warriors

Some might say nobody worked harder that weekend than our dedicated troop of onsite event volunteers. Starting Friday afternoon and not stopping until late on Sunday, this group of folks moved furniture, picked up garbage, set up equipment, wrangled food and... phew! We're even tired listing just a sample of what kept them busy. The weekend could not have been successful without the help of Isobel Barlow-Busch, Liam Connolly, Melody Ferr, Matt Neill, Dan Petker, Sharath Sundar and Oriana Wong.

Communitech Staff

Not only did our sponsor Communitech generously allow us to invade their facility for the weekend, but they also supplied a few good men and women to be at our beck and call the entire time. They unlocked doors, moved furniture, unlocked doors, unloaded cars and unlocked doors. We kept them very busy but that didn't stop them from smiling throughout. Huge props to Kristen Gillett, Jane Kains, Briton Burgio, Yanish Jutton, Sarah Cook, Glenn Smith, Ian Smith, Tricia Crompton, and Samantha Clark.

Instaposter Pixelators

This talented group of designers/photographers documented the whole affair and decorated our walls with moments captured in real time. Yes, that's right — real time! While everyone was glued to the talks and musical interludes (and to the goats), this team was running around snagging quotes and pictures and mashing them into some pretty unique and hilarious posters. If you loved them as much as we did, stay tuned as we'll be doing a feature piece on the #instaposters soon. Thanks to Brie Pointer, Frank Flitton, Marquis Dixon, and Matthew Piotrowski from the Conestoga College School of Media & Design.

Goat Wranglers

We were lucky enough to find two recently-experienced wranglers to work our goat check this year. Both Dexter and Tallula Barlow-Busch expertly cared for our two baby pygmy goats — which involved lots of cuddling, chasing, holding, petting and scooping. Thank you for showing the goats such love!

A big thanks again to everyone who contributed to the Fluxible weekend. We truly could not have done it without you.
